What Is A Limited Edition Giclée?

A giclée (zhee-CLAY) is an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclées are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. Giclée prints are known for their brilliant color and the details and subtleties they capture.

Giclées can be printed on any number of media including canvas. Giclées are superior to traditional lithography in several ways. The colors are brighter, last longer, and are so high-resolution that they are virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots. The range, or "gamut" of color for giclées is far beyond that of lithography.

Limited edition means exactly that. Each print has an edition number. Once all the limited edition prints have been printed in that particular edition, no more will ever be printed. Accompanying each limited edition print will be a Certificate of Authenticity. This certificate states important information such as title and edition size.
